Christmas 2015

2015 Christmas Project to the Lower Valley Crisis and Support ServicesZonta members donated pantry items for our 2015 Christmas Project to the Lower Valley Crisis and Support Services in support of "Zonta Shelters Women". LVCSS provides shelter for domestic violence victims in Lower Valley communities from Prosser to Wapato. Donated items included women's clothing, hats/gloves, toiletries & feminine products, laundry soap, cleaning products, diapers, food staples and gift cards for each family member. We salute the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Lower Valley Crisis and Support Services for the wonderful care they give to women in need in the Lower Valley.

Thanks to the generous donations of Zonta members we were able to fill a Honda Fit!

Pictured at left is Debbie Phillips, Director of the Women's New Life Program.

February, 2015

For our February "Zonta Shelters Women" project, the members of Zonta donated toiletries, towels, and other requested items to put together a bag for each of the 8 women in the women's shelter at Noah's Ark in Wapato.

Pat Reynolds and Danielle Surkatty delivered the bags and enjoyed the tour given by board member Jeff and Director Mike Zink. We learned about the challenges of the homeless in Wapato, the history of their organization, their ongoing and current needs .. and more! We salute the many volunteers who run Noah's Ark, the only homeless shelter in the Lower Valley, and encourage other individuals and groups to give them a call and see how you can help them serve the homeless population in Wapato. Donations to the Yakima YWCAYakima YWCADecember, 2014

In December, 2014 Zonta members purchased purses and filled those purses with personal necessities and toiletries to create individually different and "special" pre-filled "U-R-Special" purses for the residents of the YWCA Shelter. The filled purses were donated to the Yakima YWCA. They will be given out to women who enter the emergency shelter, many of whom arrive with very little after fleeing a precarious domestic violence situation.

Becky Kochie of the wonderful Yakima YWCA staff helped get the purses into the Y!

November, 2014

Under the “Zonta Shelters Women” service project Zonta members donated X-Long Twin Sheet sets & personal hygiene products to the Woman's New Life Program at the Yakima Union Gospel Mission in November, 2014. The ladies were thrilled to receive the new sheets and quickly put them on their beds. The New Life Program is a year-long program that helps women facing serious challenges to heal and return to a healthy state to be able to live a productive life.
